For Teo Treloar the work for ‘Abstract’ is an attempt to escape the  confines of figuration and to make images in a purely compositional context. With little experience in pure abstraction the paintings, drawings and collages for this project show is an attempt to create a body of work that is cut from the boundaries of Treloar's drawing practice which relies on representation and exactness. The resulting work offers an interesting insight into the artists attempt and failure to try and free himself from his own expectations and control over his work. In the artists own words "Abstraction is very, very difficult".
